The signals that genuinely can't wait for the morning email — straight to your phone. Opt-in, bundled into your subscription, calibrated so you'll never think of us as spam.
Only four signals send SMS. Everything else continues to arrive via email and the morning briefing — SMS is reserved for things that matter today.
Vaccine cold-chain excursion that hasn't been acknowledged within 4 hours. Admin/manager who opted in.
An autoclave cycle marked failed, not yet actioned. Admin/manager who opted in.
A payable bill reaches its due date in 72 hours. Admin only. One SMS per bill. Auto-pay bills are skipped.
Your CPR, AHPRA or Indemnity reaches 3 days before expiry. Goes to you directly — not your admin. One SMS per cert.
Four rules together prevent SMS fatigue. We'd rather you ignore one text than ignore ten.
No 30-day, 14-day or 7-day texts. Email keeps firing at those milestones; SMS is the final warning only. By the time you're reading an SMS, you have 3 days to act.
If three signals fire at once, you get one bundled text, not three. "3 things need attention at Brewer: CPR expires in 3d · bill due in 3d · fridge excursion".
No SMS during sleep. Alerts queue until morning. Patient-safety signals like cold-chain still fire during the day as usual.
Every SMS ends with a pointer to My Profile on clinic-admin.com. Toggle off, save, done. (If a mobile number is reassigned to someone who can't log in, carrier-level unsubscribe still works silently.)
Tap your name in the top-right of clinic-admin → My Profile.
Format: 04xx xxx xxx. Scroll to 📲 Critical alert SMS (admins/managers) and/or 🏆 My compliance → Also SMS me (all staff).
That's it. Next qualifying signal will send to your phone. No app install, no permission prompts, no download.
Admin critical alert (bundled)
Staff own-cert warning
Admin bill reminder
No usage caps, no overage charges, no per-message pricing. SMS is covered by the clinic's existing subscription — staff pay nothing extra. The business logic is built to prevent runaway cost: 1 SMS per phone per 4 hours, 3 days warning only, quiet hours.
Earlier reminders are more useful as email (less interruptive, more detail). An SMS is the final nudge — "you have 72 hours". If a staff member needs more lead time, their inbox already has the 30/14/7-day reminders.
The signal queues. You'll see it in the morning briefing on the Overview, in the next-business-day email, and the next SMS window (from 7am local). Nothing is lost — just rescheduled around sleep.
Current version is on/off per channel (critical SMS on or off, own-expiry SMS on or off). Per-signal granularity (e.g. "SMS fridge excursions but not bills") is on the roadmap — tell us if you'd use it.
Yes — ClickSend delivers to international mobile numbers. Format: +country code then the number without leading zero. Admin/manager Profile → 📲 Critical alert SMS → paste the full number including country code.
Email continues to fire — SMS is additive, not a replacement. We also log every SMS attempt; if a batch fails, it's visible in the SuperAdmin dashboard for us to investigate.
SMS reaches every phone with zero setup — no app install, no permission prompts, no "add to home screen" friction on iOS. Push notifications are on the roadmap for the future (zero cost, better interactivity) but SMS covers 100% of devices today.
SMS and email are belt-and-braces. The authoritative view is always your Overview page's morning briefing, which shows the complete picture. SMS is the escalation layer for the critical few — not every detail.
